LOOKING TOWARD THE NEXT 100 YEARS
Since Grace United Methodist Church opened its doors in 1859, hundreds of people have been impacted for the Kingdom. As one small church, Grace Church strives to make a difference in St. Johnsbury and around the world.
You are familiar with “extend the grace” in our mission statement. You may also associate it with extending the life of our church in our community.
There have been a lot of changes over the past 164 years. Besides the three buildings that have stood in our location, our current building being dedicated in 1916; we have been blessed with a growing church family as well as a facility that has been continually adapting to meet the needs of our congregation for over 100 years. While our church and community have been through many challenges — from war, severe storms, floods, to Covid — our members have continued to remain faithful in attendance and in giving, helping us reach even more people for the Kingdom.
As we look to the next 100 years, we must not be complacent. We must be faithful to our mission — to see to it that no one misses the grace of God.
Our faithful congregants have helped us, just in the last five years, raise $43,945.50 to demolish the Parish House and $59,500 to replace and repair our church roof. Other upgrades for the church that have been funded include: new outside lighting, security cameras, and a new shed. At our Pastor’s home we also were able to have the chimney repointed/rebuilt, install new garage door openers, windows and doors.
God is leading us to accomplish another bold capital campaign. This mission will allow us to fund our quickly expiring furnaces and the refurbishment of our stained glass windows. We know our faithful church community will help us accomplish this campaign.
We are taking the next step in our adventure of caring for our church by reaching out to our faith-filled generous church family. This is a step in faith that will impact Grace Church and our community for years to come.
